One pillar of being a successful Irish dancer is confidence and positivity. After quoting Willie Nelson in saying “Once you replace negative thoughts with positive thoughts, you’ll start having positive results,” Irish dance teacher Ariel Bennet give advice on how to build self-confidence. She says the first step is to recognize you’re having negative thoughts and that you must stop them in their tracks. She says you can accomplish this by picturing a big stop sign in your mind every time you feel negative. The last steps are to recognize the positivity in every situation and always talk to yourself in a positive manner. Basically, be happy and respect yourself!
