The Drunk Irish? Think Again

There’s a widely accepted trope out there that the Irish drink more than everyone else. According to a World Health Organization study, this is not the case. In fact, Ireland didn’t even make the top 20. Coming in number one was Belarus, with the average person drinking 17.5 liters of alcohol each year- or nearly 200 bottles of wine. The Irish placed 21st, with the average person drinking about 101 bottles a year. The driest country was India, with only an average of 47 bottles of wine a year per person. So grab a pint, and celebrate!

The Irish aren’t the worst drinkers out there.
