I have never really thought about making a t.v. show about what to
do if ever in a certain area on a layover.
But, now that I think
about it, there have been many times in my life where I ended up in airports either I had not originally intended to go to or for extended periods of time. In those circumstance, I spent my time calling hotels, rental cars and the airline to try and get back home. And in reality, sometimes these types of situations can
take more than just a day. Had there been a
show on how to enjoy my time there, I may have followed the advice while still waiting on a connecting flight back home.

Not only is it a good idea to pack extra cash on a trip in case this happens to you, it may even be better to learn and enjoy the experience rather than stress. My first idea is that if anyone is traveling near Europe or specifically Great Britain, why not try and connect your flight through Ireland with a layover? It may or may not be more expensive to go through Ireland, but usually airlines charge you less for the more stops you have.
Enter Anthony Bourdain. He did a show on what to do if ever on a layover in Dublin. Here’s the entire show below.

There are multiple pubs, restaurants and notable areas to go and visit while in Dublin. I think what is even more critical to note is the attitude with which you go and see these sights. Nearly all the Dubliners that Bourdain met said that you should be open, friendly and in a cheery mood. After watching this video, I could think of no better place to visit when unplanned for a short period of time. I think it would especially be great for anyone whose mood is uncertain after being in a new or unfamiliar town. It seems that before you know it, the people you meet will make you feel as comfortable as family.
