The oldest known Irish manuscript is set to go on display at Trinity College, thanks to the art conservation project funded by Bank of America and Merrill Lynch. Known as The Codex Usserianius Primus, or the First Book of Usher it is an incomplete copy of the four Gospels on vellum. The manuscript dates back to the 5th century. It holds 80 fragmented pages and is said to be named after Archbishop Ussher, a scholar. Unusual in many ways, as it names the thieves crucified with Jesus, the book contains many other unusual facts and histories.
