The Ring of Kerry-Highlights From a Traveler

The 180km route that makes up the Ring of Kerry is difficult to explore all of, unless you have quite a bit of time. So to help you scope the best spots is Discover Ireland. The author has selected four outstanding highlights along the way. The first is Geokaun Mountain, whose viewing platform looks over the westernly bits of Valentia Island. For a closer look into nature, visit the Gap of Dunloe, a cut out pass of Magillycuddy’s Reeks and Purple Mountain. If some personal time is what you seek, take the long trip to Cloon Lough, a mostly deserted lake surrounded by mountains. For a piece of history, check out The Black Valley, given its name as it was the last place in Ireland to receive electricity-in 1976!
